The Next New Thing

Pizza Hut's Box Projector within Needed Phone

A “New Media” that doesn’t exist that I think, is a projector from a phone. I know there were rumors and theories about it from the upcoming smartphones, but I don’t see one has officially come out yet. I have found only Pizza hit projector (Please see above Picture).
If the Phone projector can be used, it could be much more helpful and useful without ordering any pizzas in order to watch video. Much more portable, no boxes needed, anywhere you go, people can make a theater, since Bluetooth system perfectly works now days, we only need more accurate, clear prism technology.

Other technology is "Fingerprint Car" that works only through one's fingerprint when people ride a car. no other technology is needed, security is clear unless others cut your finger in order to steal your car. the Fingerprint Verification Technology will change the world much better than Elnon Musk launched an electronic car.

Our Class Wiki - So Far

For our class wiki I have been thinking of a few things I have planned on updating to increase and better my experience and knowledge on my wiki. One page I was focusing on creating was one that revolved around the recruiting network source such as LinkedIn and its connections with everyday job seekers on a more personal level through social media. I want to get into depth of how important social media interactions with job seekers and recruiters actually are.  Social media is a great platform to build bigger potential candidate pool bases and a greater market so I would like to create a page that attacks all of that.

P2P File Sharing

  1. What is file sharing?
  2. What is P2P File sharing?
  3. What are some examples of P2P file sharing?

Based on  an article, "The Bittorrent Effect," and "Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other," by Wendy Kaufman talks about how P2P system changed an atmosphere of cyber environment.
P2P File Sharing is also called "Peer-to-Peer File Sharing," which is a distribution and sharing of digital media using peer-to-peer (P2) networking technology. P2P system basically allows users to access media files such as books, music, movies, and games using a P2P software program that searches for other connected computers on a P2P network to locate the desired content.

For example, Napster, eDonkey2000, Gnutella, and BitTorrent

Privacy & Confidentiality

In this post, discuss how the issues of privacy and confidentiality are related to new media.

Privacy and confidentiality are huge issues of new media noways, I researched and analyzed one of certain examples from news.Facebook has promoted through their homepage to attract commercials and advertisings. Their strategy is to show six hundred million users who have Facebook accounts, and then they contribute other businesses the subscriber’s life patterns, and commercial interests. Facebook attracts other advertisers by the approach that customizes each age, gender and interest for each personalized group. However, Facebook has been criticized in this process and that it infringes on the privacy and uses of personal information of their subscribers. The personalized advertising on Facebook invades the privacy of individuals in the advertising which utilizes personal information such as addresses, ages, diseases, interests and unauthorized disclosure without consent of the users. They should stop immediately the advertising services which monitor users’ usage patterns then send advertisings for specific products related to that field for multiple similar patterned users. In particular, this is a cyber-crime whether Facebook acknowledges it or not.

Advice to Baruch College

You are hired by Baruch College to use new media to improve the College. What are some suggestions you would make using new media?

Some suggestions I would recommend to Baruch College improve on in New Media, is to give out mileages or incentives by each posting or participation. By contributing the mileages and incentives to students or faculty who join Baruch Social networks and put any comments on public school decisions and agendas, I do not mean by only cash or monetary symbols, but also these can encourage people to participate. For example, any student who puts or participate on social media can earn some points which are equivalent to blood donation points or gift cards of college book store.

Creativity and New Media

For the second assignment,

I am posting,

I was trying to use snapshot but, I believe true creativity comes out of hand (writing, drawing, even clicking a Youtube or others)

I put a basic picture of mine (not by using a computer application)
Actual Photo

Creativity

I chose and article, "YouTube Traffic Characterization: A View From the Edge," by Phillipa Gill, Martin Arlitt, Zongpeng Li, Anirban Mahanti. I believe true creativity can happen without any reasoning, stereotyped concepts, certain common sense for ordinary people, and basic regulations. In my generation, Youtube is one of must-use website like Facebook, Twitter, etc. We can upload and chat right after the post updated. People can share what they think without limitations of places, gender, ages and colors. This tool enables anyone to join and give them mass-opportunities to express what a person can make a creativity, Since, new uploading media, books, opinions, are renamed at the time the post is updated, I think, Uploading on Youtube or other Web-sites enforced to create a "Creativity" whether a person might merely change a title or not.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

The word, "virtual world" can be used as a computer-simulated environment intended for its users to inhabit and interact with via avatars. I think the system allows the people around the world can communicate and they can understand each other regardless the place. In "Going to the virtual office in Second Life," by Mark Tutton, the article talks about massive demand for virtual world from dominant IT companies. As quoted, they strongly believe they the virtual worlds can bring out "a sense of place" in various ways. Now all people using(or living) the virtual worlds have no limits and boundaries of what they are or where they belong.
In “Virtual Worlds May Impact Real World Behavior” , the author brings out how some users might be neglect of how to manage their time with avatars in newly created system (virtual world), will have argumentative effects to their real life performance. I think the future of virtual worlds would be incorporating the use of the currently developing technology dealing with virtual reality management (or system). It could also make people lose the closeness of inter-personal relationships and some the events are involved bad copy of the real world tiresome and downright boring.

Blog about Twitter

I believe that twitting affords students the opportunity to comment in 140 characters. This format fosters precision, revision, and editing since the tweet is a short written expression that is instantaneous and reaches a huge audience. But blackboard discussion does not limit any words, you can put words as much as you want.

You are therefore restrained as to how extensive your examples that you are making can be. In our increasingly linguistically-diverse classes, with an in-class discussion, there is no comparison to being able to express yourself fully

Social Networking Sites

Facebook

I have been using FB since my first year of college. I have heard that even in Africa (lacks of water, food supplies) the people use Facebook by using Google's Wi-Fi Drone system.
One of the most influential and huge social network sites(Definitely first generation a SNS)
After M&A with What's up application(does not make a revenue but has kept the largest user infrastructure).
Now, MOBILE is Facebook's oriented focus and a cash cow. based on their financial statements, Mobile AD Revenue makes up 76% all Add revenue on FB.

Twitter

Micro Blogging SNS that limits each post to 140 characters (I like this idea).
Largest penetration throughout U.S but not entirely a whole world. It was a rising star for a few years.
Saleseforce Co, withdrew the process of buying, but I am expecting good deal for both industries (Mobile network, and SNS section)

LinkedIn

Business Oriented, Corporate Brands, giving potential and current associates a a place to Network&Connect. After M&A with Microsoft, LinkedIn showed a little bit less growth rate from expected mark rate. The LinkedIn has a lot of beneficial outs and expectations for both entry level job seekers and experienced professionals.

Instagram

Social sharing site all around PICTURES and 15 second VIDEOS.
using #HASHTAGS and postings, Mostly Nike puts an efforts on it, I believe the corporation has similar agenda and image with Instagram.
PICTURES and consumers can relate to.
Good for Photographers and picture lovers, but for me who does not,
I would not use for this site at all.

Social Networking

The most beneficial advantages of using social networking on behalf of technology are :
1.          Worldwide Connectivity
Finding romance
Seeking a new job
Locating assistance
2.       Commonality of Interest
3.       Real-Time Information Sharing

Disadvantages

1. Backlash:
A joke among friends is one thing but a joke with the world at-large is much different. When potentially offensive content is posted online, the amount of feedback can be excessive and is often brutal.
2. Cyberbullying and Crimes Against Children
Use of social networks may expose individuals to other forms of harassment or even inappropriate contact. This can be especially true for teens and younger children.
3. Risks of Fraud or Identity Theft

If you are like most people, you already use at least one social media platform, but you may still have some questions about social networking. Is social media helping or hindering your life? Is it safe? Can it really increase productivity and build brand awareness - or is it simply a place to waste a considerable amount of time?Since networking and online social communities are so widespread, several studies have looked at the effects of social networking. I would like to use two assigned readings to support my arguments. A common complaint, highlighted on “Antisocial Networking?” by HILARY STOUT, suggests social media is making us less social and more aggressive. Comments on social media sites are often more blunt than the statements would be if they were made face-to-face. But other sources, like “Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting,” suggest that social networking, like any other technological tool, is as good as a user makes it.
My best advice to use the social networking is this: when using any social media platform, take responsibility for your own safety and never join a group just because it is trendy or all your friends are doing it. In evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of social networking, it's best to err on the side of caution and protect your privacy. Be careful with what you post and treat others as if you were in a face-to-face situation.

Blogs vs. Wikis

As we live in a highly evolving information technology society as a whole, if we do not use blog or wiki at the age of twenty. It seems very outdated. Blog is an abbreviated (or shortened) version of Weblog, which is a term used to describe Web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog is a frequently (or regularly) updated, personal Web site featuring diary-type commentary and links to articles or other Web sites. A wiki is a website that allows multiple users to create, modify and organize web page contents in a collaborative manner. We see some differences on two types of websites, I think today’s social network services have already converged by using advantages of both. While blog is more focused on ‘opinion’ like a personal journal by posing a single writing on their own blog, wiki allows multiple authors to post many posting at one place to discuss easily about a certain topic or the others. Like “twitter” or “Facebook” we can easily make our own personal page and make any postings which can show to other people within a connection. I think this concept mostly converged out two major topics: Wiki and blog. As a blog which contains a personal journal or opinion can be shared with others, this function satisfies what Wiki is about as collaboration. The users can post anything from any sources. But we should think of safe and helpful sources as information. By Kathy E. Gill, the assigned reading from blog, “Research questions include: Which link is the more representative of influence, blogroll or individual post?” It is time for us to choose which information is reliable and people need to learn how to distinguish which useful information helps us or not. As Wiki reading has given me an insight of Wiki, by Margaret Locher, “Almost half of those who use wikis said they employ them primarily as a collaboration tool, with employee communication cited as the second most common reason for supporting wiki software.Wiki is more about collection of professional information or “collective knowledge” for all users who need a help to find an answer. As a blog and wiki have become together, blog’s personal opinion and Wiki’s information just crossed their border lines. People can usually get confused with two mixed line. Now users are dominated by a lot of information with personal opinion. For example, if we search an article or Web news, after reading the news, we would see and check the comments of the accidents. I believe we need use both blogs and wiki very wisely not like we are used by the webpages. Information and opinion can be the same but what I understand is the two concepts should not be considered the same at all. I suggest for my new Wiki use is to add a Colored fancy percentage bar which tells you how many percents are reliable or informative on each information or new postings so that people may distinguish whether the posted information is reliable or not.

Hi, this is Dongchan(Peter) Lee,

I just made my own blog for Accounting professional and Information System people.

Please welcome, and enjoy my blogs.

Research Topic

"Devastating Social Media Addiction"

Social media has a major impact on today's society and people, specially young students who have a less self-control. Many researches based on news paper, average people spend their time on "Social Network Service (SNS)" more than 2 hours a day. The younger are they, the more and higher they spend their time on it. It has a lot of advantages of using SNS for today's lives but I would say disadvantage of using SNS keeps people down on much worse of their lives. A research found that many students who receive lower grade one a school mostly get easily addicted to SNS for them to avoid a real life or burdens of study. Spending more time on SNS such as Facebook, YouTube has made young generations worse that people on nowadays have never expected before. I would like to elaborate how it has happened, and how we can solve the problem in general by using examples.

thanks,
